The catalogue is not only a documentation of the travel-, arts- and communications project along the course of the Danube, performed by Veronika Dreier, Doris Jauk-Hinz and Eva Ursprung in 2003, it is furthermore a compendium of art theory, images, socio-economic, political, historical and ecological facts, myths and stories around this river.

Starting in Vienna with a sound-streaming with nada.sk (Bratislava) and ParaRadio (Budapest), 3 women launched a virtual and real journey - streaming in progress - performance on tour along the Danube River. The journey was an investigation of personal contact alongside new communication technology.
Main focus was the personal contact to artists and locals. To create attention we used visual flag signals for our performances, in history intended to control water traffic. Accordingly, our equipment consisted of clearly recognizable signs of communication: special made overalls with the letters W.A.S. in print, signal flags and musical boxes playing the “Blue Danube Waltz”. We distributed souvenirs, consisting of little glass bottles filled with water from the Danube, as well as stories and facts about the river, handwritten on paper. In exchange for this, we asked artists along the river to create "souvenirs" for our exhibition and catalogue - small art pieces symbolizing their feelings about their own country. The materials collected in photography, video and sound, as well as the "souvenirs" were exhibited at Freiraum Transeuropa/PiroschkaREV, MuseumsQuartier Vienna in 2004.

The catalogue features: Texts by Werner Fenz, Doris Jauk-Hinz, Eva Ursprung, Reni Hofmüller, Adele Eisenstein, Gergely Földvary, Marina Grzinic, Daniela Stojkovic, Sándor Richter, Djore Kasimir, Penka Angelova, Elena Velikova, Karl Kaser, Lukas Marcel Vosicky, Nicolai Argesanu, Mihai Pop, Ute Kilter, Regina Hellwig-Schmid, Vitus Weh, Erhard Busek, Zora del Buono, Florica Madritsch-Marin, Ida Pfeiffer.
